

Romero, a Vegas native, rose up the ranks of the competitive Marvel vs. Over 10,000 competitors gathered in Las Vegas this year for the largest and longest-running fighting game tournament in the world. But it was the relative newcomer and comeback kid Rene “RyanLV” Romero with Phoenix, Morrigan, and Chun-Li who beat out 2016 champ Gonzalez to become the Marvel vs. Capcom 3 player in the world, competed this year.

When this year’s Evolution Championship Series began, the possibility of a repeat champion looked likely as four previous champs: Ryan “Filipino Champ” Ramirez, Jay “Viscant” Snyder, Justin Wong, and Christopher “NYChrisG” Gonzalez, the number one ranked Marvel vs. Capcom 3 is over at Evo 2017, and a new and final champ has risen from the ashes of over 650 fierce competitors: Rene “RyanLV” Romero.
